Safe-T-Span® Pultruded Fiberglass Grating
Pultruded fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) grating is durable, corrosion resistant, and low maintenance for challenging environments. Manufactured with approximately 70% fiberglass rovings and 30% resin, pultruded gratings safely support industrial and pedestrian loads on longer spans. Produced by drawing fiberglass rovings and mats though a resin bath and heated dies, bearing bars and cross bars are then mechanically and chemically locked with a recessed tie bar.
Pultruded grating features:
- “I” bar and “T” bar profiles
- Industrial and pedestrian rated options
- Fire retardant, meeting both ASTM E84 and ASTM D635
- Slip resistant quartz grit walking surface
Safe-T-Span® Pultruded Fiberglass Grating
Safe-T-Span® Industrial Pultruded Gratings
Our most popular pultruded gratings are available in 1”, 1-1/2” and 2” depths. The 1” and 1-1/2” deep products are offered with an “I” shaped bearing bar and open area of 60% or 40%. The “T” shaped profile used on 2” deep products are spaced with open area of 50% or 33%.
Popular resins include fire retardant ISOFR (isophthalic polyester), VEFR (vinyl ester), or U.S. Coast Guard approved Phenolic. All products are available with standard coarse grit walking surface. For further details on mesh openings and panel sizes, please view our Sizes & Options.
Aqua Grate® Pedestrian Grating
Popular for use in facilities such as swimming pools, water parks, marinas, and piers, ADA conforming Aqua Grate is specifically designed to meet the corrosive conditions associated with these environments. Produced in 1” and 1-1/2” depths, the nominal 1/4” opening between the 1-1/2” wide “T” shaped bearing bars provides comfort under foot.
Produced with a synthetic surface veil and UV inhibitors in the resin, Aqua Grate is long-lasting in outdoor applications. The walking surface is coated with slip resistant Aqua Grit (fine grit) which is comfortable under bare feet. Standard colors are white or light gray. For further information on mesh openings and panel sizes, please view our Sizes & Options.
Safe-T-Span® Pedestrian Grating
Designed specifically for pedestrian applications where a slip resistant, corrosion resistant, durable, lightweight material is required. Available in 1” and 1-1/2” deep “T” shaped profiles with a 1-1/2” wide flange on the walking surface. Open area options are 38% or ADA compliant 25%, and standard colors are yellow or gray.
Surface options include standard coarse grit or Aqua Grit, a fine grit comfortable under bare feet. For further information on mesh openings and panel sizes, please view our Sizes & Options.

Standard Resins, Colors, & Surface Options
ISOFR
Isophthalic polyester resin formulation with a low flame spread rating of 25 or less designed for applications where there is moderate exposure to corrosive elements (DNV Type Approval Certificate F-16856).
Flame Spread: ASTM E84 rating of 25 or less
Standard colors: yellow or dark gray.
VEFR
Vinyl ester resin system with a flame spread rating of 25 or less for dependable resistance to both acidic and alkaline environments.
Flame spread: ASTM E84 rating of 25 or less

Surface Options
Pultruded fiberglass grating comes with a standard coarse grit surface. An optional fine grit surface, known as Aqua Grit is also available. Surface options must be specified at the time of order.
Standard Coarse Grit
An integrally-applied coarse grit provides maximum slip-resistance and should be specified for all industrial applications.
Aqua Grit
Also known as sugar grit, this fine grit surface is also integrally applied to the grating surface. Aqua Grit is recommended for applications where barefoot traffic is likely, such as docks or aquatic recreation areas.
Fiberglass Grating Fabrication & Services
Engineering Services
Grating Pacific offers complete engineering services from concept to production. Available services include:
- Design consultation
- Technical manuals
- Field technical representatives
- CAD drafting
- Engineering certification
- Custom design services
FRP Panel Fabrication
Our fully trained production staff will transform stock panels into custom components to your exact specification. We layout and cut our products to any configuration, install fastening or lifting devices, and custom cut stair treads to precise tolerances. Shop fabrication eliminates the need for dust containment and scarp disposal at the project site.
Post-fabrication, all pieces are properly resin sealed to assure maximum life. All parts are piece marked to matching installation drawings which accompany product shipment.
FRP Structural Fabrication
We proudly offer in-house fabrication of FRP structures including:
- Catwalks
- Stairs
- Handrails
- Ladders
- Supporting structures
Services provided include CAD design, engineering certification, full fabrication, and delivery. Fiberglass structures and flooring can ship “knocked down” ready for field installation, partially assembled, or fully assembled subject to transportation restrictions.
Chemical Resistance Guide
When selecting a fiberglass grating resin, it is important to know what corrosive agents the grating will be exposed to once it is installed. This Chemical Resistance Guide is based on extensive experience with fiberglass grating. As actual use conditions differ, the end user must test the grating for use under actual conditions. Grating Pacific’s technical service representatives are available to discuss the specifics of each project and assist our customers in selecting the best resin for their project.
Fiberglass Grating Fasteners
All FRP grating should be securely fastened to its supporting structure to protect the grating and increase product service life. Specialty clips manufactured from type 316 stainless steel are available for all fiberglass products. Clips can be used to attach grating or plate to the supporting structure or fasten adjacent grating panels to minimize load induced differential deflection.
Maximum recommended clip spacing is 48 inches on center with a minimum of four (4) clips per piece of grating.
Type “M” Saddle Clip
Used to secure molded or pultruded panels to a support using two adjacent bearing bars. Bolt not included with standard clip order.
Type “J” Hold Down Clip
Used to secure molded grating to a support using one bearing bar. Bolt not included with standard clip order.
Type “F” End Panel Clip

Type “E” Hold Down Clip
Specifically designed to attach Ecograte62 molded grating to supporting structures. Bolt not included with standard clip order.
Type “FC” Hold Down Clip
Type “FC” clips are used to secure pultruded grating to adjacent supports. Bolt not included with standard clip order.
Type “G” Friction Clip
Used to attach molded or pultruded grating to support flanges that are less than ¾” thick. Type “G” Hold Down clips are a friction clip and do not require drilling into the support flange. Fastening bolt included with clip order.
Type W Clip
Used to secure covered grating or plate to supporting structures. Bolt not included with standard clip order.
