Fiberglass Grating Stair Treads and Stair Covers
Fiberglass stair treads and stair covers are an essential complement to molded and pultruded grating installations. Designed to meet or exceed OSHA requirements and building code standards, fiberglass stair treads and covers are:
- Slip-resistant
- Fire retardant
- Non-conductive
- Low maintenance
- Easily fabricated in the shop or field
Fiberglass Treads & Stair Cover Products
Molded FRP Stair Treads
One-piece molded stair treads are 1-1/2” deep with a 1-1/2” x 6” mesh and a solid, visibly defined, slip-resistant nosing. Available in the same high-performance resins as our molded fiberglass grating products, the grating portion of the tread is available with the standard meniscus or optional grit surface.
Fabrication is facilitated by unique cutting channels spaced at 6” increments. These channels provide efficient utilization when cutting treads to common sizes.

Pultruded FRP Stair Treads
Safe-T-Span pultruded stair treads provide superior strength for stairways that require longer spans. These treads, designed with “I” or “T” shaped bearing bars, have a solid, slip-resistant nosing in a contrasting color.
The standard surface of the entire tread is applied quartz grit. Standard color options are yellow grating with dark gray nosing or dark gray grating with yellow nosing. Treads are stocked in standard 24’ lengths and cut-to-size per order by Grating Pacific.

Covered Fiberglass Stair Treads
Designed as an alternative to heavy, high-maintenance concrete or slippery metal steps, covered stair treads are designed for uses such as universities, commercial office parks, motels, and aquatic or amusement parks.
Standard in light gray Corvex® resin, other resins and colors are also available. The integrally applied grit top is available in two surface textures that provide slip resistance; lighter standard grit for barefoot traffic or coarse grit for industrial applications.

FRP Stair Covers
Fiberglass stair tread covers are a convenient way to provide a solid, slip-resistant surface for existing stairs. These covers may be installed over wood, concrete, or metal steps.
Safe and durable, the covers are manufactured with an integral aluminum grit walking surface and a visible nosing of contrasting color. For specialty applications, a phosphorescent coating may be specified for the nosing. This treatment allows the nosing to glow upon removal of a primary light source and is commonly used for stairs that serve in emergency exits.

Chemical Resistance Guide
When selecting a fiberglass grating resin, it is important to know what corrosive agents the grating will be exposed to once it is installed. This Chemical Resistance Guide is based on extensive experience with fiberglass grating. As actual use conditions differ, the end user must test the grating for use under actual conditions. Grating Pacific’s technical service representatives are available to discuss the specifics of each project and assist our customers in selecting the best resin for their project.
